Welcome to our chapter website!

The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) is the premier professional association for facility management. Supporting the largest community of FM professionals in the industry, IFMA membership comprises more than 17,300 facility professionals throughout 55 countries. Our members have a voice in 127 chapters and 15 councils and one special interest group.

IFMA was established in 1980 as a not-for-profit, incorporated association dedicated to promoting excellence in the management of facilities. Globally, IFMA spots trends, conducts research, provides educational programs, and assists corporate and organizational facility managers in developing strategies to manage human, facility and real estate resources. The combined purchasing power of IFMA’s North American members is $81 billion (U.S.) annually.

Our mission is to provide exceptional education, networking, career development and leadership opportunities that support and advance the Facility Management profession in Northern Illinois. Our chapter meets the first Tuesday of every month at various locations.

A Message from Northern Illinois IFMA President, Emily Oltmann

Greetings IFMA-NI!

As we embark on another year navigating life within a pandemic we will continue to be tested both personally and professionally. My challenge to our chapter is to rise above adversity, fear, and the uncertainty that comes along with change and the unknown.

Within our community of industry leaders and trained professionals we deal with emergencies and unique situations on a daily basis. We are problem solvers and that is exactly what we will need to do in order to navigate this ever changing environment.

We will continue to operate virtually as a chapter until conditions improve and allow us to gather in groups again.

Our main focus will be on education. We will be looking for innovative perspectives on our core competencies.

Our chapter is also in need of active participants to help us manage our efforts and increase member engagement. We ask that all who are ready to get involved reach out to Kathy Daloia with your contact contact information and interests. At this time we are looking for membership, education, and event committee chairs. We need your ideas and engagement.

In closing I would like you to know how incredibly greatful I am to be apart of this chapter and leading the charge as we embrace change and reinvent ourselves in 2021.

Be active, be yourself!

Emily Oltmann

Chapter President

Due to recent concern over the #Coronavirus IFMA has gathered resources to assist facility managers in taking preventive measures to protect facilities and occupants. Most best practices used to prevent infection align with measures taken to reduce the spread of the flu and other respiratory diseases. We suggest reviewing and possibly elevating your cleaning procedures; assessing your indoor environmental quality and checking your HVAC system; updating and communicating your organization’s emergency and business continuity plans; and staying up to date on information released by the CDC and World Health Organization. Gathered resources outlined above are available at the IFMA Knowledge Library.
